Firewall Whitelisting

When working with a public IP you must Whitelist your IP address or IP addresses that you will be using to access the modem.

Never leave a modem open to the public without a very narrow whitelist.

Rules

To Allow access to the internal modbus (onboard IO) or modem serial port you must add a rule with a Rule Type “Input”.

Set the Source to Carrier as that is what is trying to access the modem.

The 123.123.123.123 corresponds to the remote IP address (Server IP)

The 166.166.166.166 corresponds to the EXTERNAL IP address of the modem. Do not set this to the internal IP address it will not work.

MAC-IP List

Using the MAC IP list you must specify the Range of the Host IPs in this case we just have one server IP: 123.123.123.123

For the Destination IP you can specify the complete range as this will give the server complete access to the open ports. Set the Start to 0.0.0.0 and the End to 255.255.255.255
